Contains Mild Peril by Fran Lock

My review of Fran Lock’s recent collection, Contains Mild Peril, has been published on London Grip.

They leap out at us from the pages of Contains Mild Peril in such titles as ‘Citizen Pitbull’, ‘And I will consider the yellow dog’, ‘Remedial dog’; they wait within the verse, ready to pounce. Take this, from the opening of the sinister monologue of Irish feuds and families, ‘Gentleman Caller’:

The Cavan night aspires to knives; a dog with prominent
Spine is moving among the empties like a broken plough.’
